The missing orange slices

“Grandma is here! Grandma is here!” barked Max, the larger member of the Maximum Murph Detective Agency.

Max, Murphy, and Finnegan ran toward the front door. Auntie Laurie stood between them and the door.

“Back, boys. Get back,” she said.

Slowly, Grandma and Mom made their way into the house. Grandma had her snazzy new red walker; she looked like she was ready to win a race.

As soon as they got in the door, the boys went wild. They hadn’t seen Grandma in a long time, so they were very excited.

As Auntie Laurie continued to push the dogs back, Mom helped Grandma get through the doorway then make their way to the kitchen.

“I’ll make you a snack,” said Mom to Grandma. “I’ll be ready when you get to the living room.”

Mom set down all their things and went straight to work fixing a snack for Grandma. She prepared a tiny orange, cutting it up and setting it on a napkin.
